Hello friends!

Apologies if this is the wrong board, but I didn't see anything related so here I am.

Bought my 2020 RM Dark Horse a little over a month ago, and the customization bug has its teeth sunk deep into me already. I'm starting slow, blacking out some of the chrome, but as I go my mind races with potential ideas. In the interest of working smart, and not hard, I figured I'd post my thoughts and maybe someone who's walked the path before me has insight or guidance.

Here's what I'm thinking so far:
  • Black out chrome - this will be an ongoing effort until as much shiny is gone as I can muster.
  • Vinyl wrap - I love the flat black. But I'm going to have it wrapped a flat purple. When more chrome comes off in this phase, I'll black it out as well.
  • Passenger footrest - I've already posted about this elsewhere, but my wife hates the location of the pegs on any trip of length.
  • Add a light bar - one of the few things I dislike about the RM, the headlight. I want to add a light bar,
  • and wire it into the high beam switch.
  • Speaker upgrade - low priority, but why not.
  • Trunk struts - I saw this recently, here on the forum, and love the idea.
That's all I can think of for today, but I'm always open to ideas.

How about a Corbin Seat, Corbin matching backrests, Avon Grips, New Mirrors, Klock Werk windshield, Ciro 3D charging phone holder, a cool horn cover, HO Air Cleaner and a set of Rineharts?

The list goes on and on!

Ah the money pit! When I bought my 2019 Chieftain I said to myself, "dude you just paid literally twice what you said you'd ever spend on a toy" so be satisfied and ride it like it is. Well that lasted for 200 miles and the make it my own quest has begun.

It's funny how much money we put into these things. I've got a fairly long list too (not as long as yours lol). Covid19 slowed me down, not due to money but rather the fact that my wife is home now during the day now (I work 100% from home normally) and now I cant hide the boxes from when my favorite people, FedEx and UPS pay me a visit.

1. Rear guards
2. Polaris Garage door opener
3. Chrome headlight bezel
4. JES wind deflectors
5. Backrest (no longer used)
6. Klock Werkz 12 inch dark tint
7. Indian soft lowers
8. War bonnet horn cover
9. Kuryakyn spear floorboards
10. Spear break pedal
11. Spear foot rest for highway pegs
12. Ultimate seats
13. Powerplus fairing speakers (not yet installed)

I think remote locking saddlebags (I have a chieftain base model) and heated grips will be all that I do (this year anyway)

Rear fender delivery Wednesday 7/22/2020 - finally finished! Beginning wire installation for rear lights to include from Custom Dynamics: 10" Dual Color Plasma Rods, license plate frame w/run, turn and brake lights. Front fender is not back from paint yet so will have to wait for that for the wheel install....

I got my 19 Chieftain Limited the last few days of December 2019. Due to COVID I have been slowed down some. However, after the new driveR and passenger floorboards last week, I‘m in deep for $3,600 in accessories including Icecarver’s (above post) cool Arrowhead Seat Bolt Cover.

My lovely bride says I’m done. Little does she know, Lloydz Cams, Fuel Controller, Custom Dynamic Plazma Rods and a chopped trunk will be coming in the fall.

Next year will be the 23” front hoop and a rake kit!

Then Indian will come out with a new Chieftain with the water cooled 108 in it and I’ll have to buy it! This shit never ends!

This is actually on my radar.

My Suzuki is powder coated, and I was considering having this one wrapped in vinyl. Until I got the quote. They wanted almost 3x what I paid for powder coating the Suzuki, to wrap the Indian! Probably not.

Though I am contemplating getting it dipped. The temporary color appeals to me, especially with the gorgeous original matte black! But I want to change the color.

How do you like the V&H? I'm definitely looking for pipes. Stock pipes are too quiet. I can't believe they made this motor sound like a sewing machine!

Got them off Ebay for like 75 bucks. Do a search there a few sellers that offer them. They look fine and if you ever need to replace the "God forbid you drop the bike" they are a cheap replacement.

I would recommend Clearwater LEDs for additional lighting. I have a set that I have moved around several bikes. Amazing product. I have a post on here on my install of the Darlas on my RM.
