I swapped out the OEM (Nissin) front brake pads with EBC "Double H" pads for two reasons. I LIKE strong brakes, with minimal effort. And I hate the nasty brake dust that accumulates on the fenders and wheels. I've been an EBC man for a couple of decades now. I used them on my Kawasaki and Ducati superbikes and they worked GREAT on my Road Star and Roadliner.

After 600 miles on the Roadmaster, I can only say that the improvement is the usual EXCELLENT. I'm a front brake man, meaning I almost never touch the rear brake. Call it a habit from riding sportbikes, but the only time I touch the rear brake pedal is on loose surfaces or low speed wet riding. So I only swapped out the front pads. (My brother did both ends) Braking went from a typical three finger effort to two fingers to get the same job done. And, while 20 miles of riding with the OEM pads got the wheel and fender coated in black brake dust, after 600 miles with the EBC pads, the dust was very minimal. Awesome!

EBC "Double H" fronts: FA347HH
EBC "Double H" rear: FA196HH

I was already going to switch over to them too, especially after your review and recommendation, doing it soon on my Chieftain.

A bit of an old thread here but it was helpful. I’m looking to do my first DIY replacement of my 2016 Classic’s F/R brake pads — it appears to be within my level of capability! — and was wondering what pads to get. These EBCs appear to be highly rated and are also highly rated on Revzilla’s website, so I think they’re what I need. Anything ELSE I need? We all know how a new apparently small project can turn into a monster because you then learn that you were also supposed to get the XYZ bracket or the ABC clip, etc. etc. etc. As far as I can tell, I’ll just (may) need to top-off my brake fluids... Am I on the right track?

Yes I’d seen that one already and that’s what convinced me that this was pretty easily doable. Even the rear pads seem pretty accessible. I haven’t really seen any info anywhere on what comes after the new pads though. I know you have to re-adjust the calipers before you add any brake fluid, and I suppose that it’s possible that no new brake fluid will be needed, but I also think that’s unlikely as it does have some evaporative aspects to it that naturally lowers the level.... I think!
