I can't speak for others,but,unless I'm parking on a grade,mine is always left in neutral.Naturally,if the machine is parked on a grade,THEN,you would place it in gear which I would think would be common sense.

Just curious what the ratio of N vs 1st parking is
I normally park in 1st gear maybe there's some cons to that?
I don't find it too difficult on Indians to find N off the bike

I was in the badlands and watched a guys $30k bike roll backwards parked on a slight hill .. on the kickstand.... while in Neutral... painful to watch. There's a time and place NOT to park in N ?

Me 95% of the time.... I get home.... put it in N.. .. t urn it off. physically open the garage door and push the bike in.... When I leave simply sit on it and push it back. Stays in N. When out and about, 99% of the time, leave it in 1st. I'm pretty tall so .. most of the time.. it's a weird habit of mine... i reach down and with my hand ... pull that shifter into N ... and start the bike if in a group and know I'll be sitting there a few min running...... in N.

I parked a bike in N on flat ground one time and as I was walking away I hear a crunching thud and a mirror comes bouncing past me. The bike had tipped over on what I thought was perfectly flat ground. Ever since I always park in gear and have to purposely shift into neutral to move the bike around if needed.... and then its put back in gear before walking away. Just me and it has prevented a reoccurrence of that dreaded, embarrassing, fall that happened.

When I first learned to ride, I almost had a run away bike parked in N, since then it’s been in gear whenever I park. Same for my car, even with the emergency brake applied.

1st regardless of garage or street just to instill that habit (plus I have a smaller garage and it could easily get bumped or a shirt/jacket caught on the bars and pulled). Neutral is very easy to find for when in the garage and it needs to warm up. I can't speak for other Indians, but for the FTR at least, you can just bump the side of the bike with your hip if its having a hard time and it will fall right into N. You don't have to roll it forward or back like I had to on other bikes.

Same here. I start the engine and let it warm up while I put on my gear.

I had to ck in neutral but like others if I’m on any kind of an incline it’s in first gear and let it roll forward until it locks in gear and stops. I usually pull the clutch in when starting.

Always in gear, mount, find neutral, pull clutch, start then ease out clutch. I don’t trust “idiot lights.”
