Dip Stick removal problem solved

So I didn't like the fact that Polaris saw fit that in order to check your oil level, you had to have a funky little wrench you could only turn so far and forget about using your fingers on the shines slick chrome. What's an owner to do? Well for one I noticed that there were a number of ribs sticking out to help grip the stick, and though I wasn't born with a wrench in my hand I do notice that the number appeared to corelate to a 32 point socket. So after trying 2 I found that a 1 1/8 inch 32 point socket fills the bill nicely and it so happens that Lowes sell them with a cute little hanger that if you don't remove doubles as a key to turn the socket.b A $5 fix.

I bought one from Aeromach. No wrench needed, just unscrew it by hand. And unlike the OEM dipstick which has a black stem that makes it impossible to see the oil level on it, the Aeromach has a silver stem that makes it very easy to read the oil level.

Realizing of course that its different strokes for different folks, but at $65.00 for the Aeromach I can afford to carry the socket. It was just a suggestion to help with an issue with a relatively easy and inexpensive fix. Beside the socket is chrome.

The Aeromach looks great, but I also like the stock dip stick for the added security of making it difficult for others with out the tool to remove it. The only down side is it is hard to read the oil level. But after 15K it is always the same so it doesn't get checked much.

I found a couple of 32 point sockets on line. They listed them for a Mercedes Diesel engine. The price was from 35 to 50 bucks plus freight. For that a guy just as well buy the aeromach dipstick. Not sure where the original poster of the 32 point socket bought one for 5 bucks??
