Did you ride today

I thought it would be fun to read about our riding adventures.

I got out today and rode 54 miles on my Yamaha 850XS. The sky was blue and it was a warm 62 degrees afternoon, just right for the first ride of the year. The bike fired right up and ran like a champ no problems after sitting in the garage for 3 months. I buy my gas from a place that has 100% gas, no ethanol. I rode alone as I do most of the time. I have several routes, I call them laps, than I ride. Today's was on the river road run that is nice with a lot of curves and scenic views of the lake. The roads are all two lane and not very much traffic. The posted speed limits are 45 but on my bike 60 feels just right. Some of this is why I love to ride in the country; number of red lights 1, no. of cars I needed to pass 1, cars that passed me 0, cop cars 0, curves in the road many, smiles on my face - all the time. I didn't want to come home but the sun was going down and so was the temperature so I returned to my nest. I can't tell you how great that ride made me feel. Hell, I don't need to , you already know. Get busy riding my brothers and sisters and let's hear about it. Photos would be great too.

I went out for a cool 330 miles yesterday. Started in Tijuana and rode over La Rumerosa to Mexicali for some Chinese food with a buddy, pretty good weather for the most part and got to finally push the limits of the bike a bit. I really want more lean angle as I was scraping pegs a lot on the faster corners. We crossed over into the US at Calexico after lunch (also very sleepy from a giant meal) and rode the 98 (I believe) back to the 8 West to head back into San Diego. The headwind was brutal for a good 70 miles or so, and the temperature dropped into the low 30's according to the bike while at the top of the pass. My arms and back are feeling it today after such a brutal headwind, but I made it back to my buddies house in El Cajon, had a beer then rode home and relaxed for the evening. All in all a great day. First long trip on Ricky Bobby and it was fantastic until the headwinds hit and I really missed having a windshield. Definitely ready for my new exhaust to get here so I can let the pipes sing!

Here in glorius Taxachusetts,we still have alittle snow around, but some pretty good sized snow piles on the sides of the roads. So as it melts and runs out into the roads,it freezes at night, and guess what the local towns do when that happens?? They salt the living shit out of em,meaning, when ya ride or drive over em,all kinds of salt dust flies up and all over your vehicle, four and or two wheeler, making em snow white in color with a little dark coloring mixed in.So,unless I have to ride,I don't because that salt dust will raise hell with the aluminum, not to mention, making the bike look like it came over on the Mayflower.

Yeah, I had to ride to the shop, just because it’s gonna snow tomorrow. They say up to 5”, so salt life is back… will have to await the next rain, to clear the salt again after tomorrow.

Had a nice ride this afternoon, and it started raining as I was coming home. My new leather jacket needed a little breaking in, so it was a good thing. it was a little tight when I got it two Weeks ago. Once it gets rained on a few times, it will wear in nice.
