January 19, 60* in Pittsburgh and the rain finally stopped. All the Indians were started, warmed up and ridden around the neighborhood. The roads are still too wet for a serious ride. But at least I was on a motorcycle!

Lee, did you have some BBQ there? If so, how was it? In all my years of driving by that place I've never eaten there. If I'm down that way and hungry I will go to the Kingfish and get a fish sandwich and onion rings. Can't beat it!

I've been to the BBQ joint a few times now. It's good stuff, definitely worth a stop. This last time I did the brisket taco (photo below). It was decent but I'll try something else off their menu instead of this again next tie. They recently added Sunday hours back (noon-7pm) but I tried to go there when they weren't open on Sundays and ended up going to Kingfish and getting the Cod platter. It was so much food, I couldn't finish it all. Good stuff.

You guys are very fortunate because you ,obviously, live in a warm climate, unlike us up here in New England where we have snow, ice, and sometimes, sub zero temps. But,during the spring, summer and fall months,it's really pretty nice around here.So I guess it's six to one and half a dozen to the other. .But I still envy you guys.;)(y)

It was pushing 80 degrees on my ride... Almost made me wish I didn't bring a jacket as I was starting to sweat a little lol.

But yes, the summers down here are quite the tradeoff where its over 100 degrees, extremely humid, and its just about guaranteed to rain every afternoon... so definitely need to get in all the riding now while the weather is ideal.

We're just like you. We left all our bikes up in cold Washington, flew down to LA, rented bikes and rode for two days. And finished out with a night at Supercross before returning to 18 degree Eastern WA.

I live in north central pa. I’ve not stopped riding. Best is when it’s well below freezing. That means the roads are dry.

I’m riding today actually!

glorious mid-winter ride today ~~ between colorado storms. 90miles or so. 45 degrees when this pic was taken ~ adding a layer to my head (half-helmet as usual) and balaclava. Franktown loop. Photo taken on Russleville cutoff. Snowfields on either side as far as the eye could see. Looking SW to Pikes Peak. So good getting ‘er fired up!!!

What part of E. Washington are you from? I was living in Kennewick when I graduated from Hanford High School in 1974, first graduating class. Went back for the first time in 2018 and man, it has changed. The 20 trees my two buddies and I dug holes for and planted back then are 40 ft high now. (Used to be the front of the school, but after the addition, it’s now the back lol) That was due to Principal Bennet catching us in the parking lot in the van… smoking, and that was his stipulation to graduate.

In Pittsburgh, PA it is also very cold but dry. Rock salt and salt dust on the roads is holding me back not necessarily the temperature. Salt dust can be very dangerous but mostly it is highly corrosive. It is particularly hard on stock fasteners. It gets in every crevice on a motorcycle and corrosion starts quickly. I do have a 1977 Yamaha XS-750 that is my go-to winter must ride salt bike! (Photo-January 28)

We have the identical bike in the shop now, owner is the original owner, we performed the 2nd gear fix, and also replaced the clutch and the clutch pushrod seal. I fixed his fuse block under the seat with replacement clips from an XS1100, and annealed them so they wouldn’t snap off lol. It has 17k miles on it, and had to free up the sticky advance plate, too.
