Just got home from Glacier ride. I posted the first two days but not since because we pushed pretty hard and weather. 2125 miles in five days out west to Kalispell and back to Northeast South Dakota. Even though half the trip was rain off and on we were dressed well and stayed warm and dry! Left Miles City MT Friday morning and rode the first two hours at about 37-39 degrees! Highway 12 west to Helena MT was great as well as highway 2 East for miles out of Shelby MT. I’ll have to call my “road to the sun” trip “road to the rain and clouds”…Good reason to go back someday!!

Just got back from Mexican Hat Utah. We had great steaks at the Swinging Steak Restaurant. Very good steaks.
Stopped to check that everything was tied down for the ride.

My wife and I took off a week ago yesterday on our Indians and headed to Springfield, MO. The next day, it was down to Branson, then over to Eureka Springs, AR. We rode the pig trail down to Ozark, AR (now we can check that off our list of the top 12 motorcycle roads) then to Russellville and down highway 7 through the Ouachita national forest to Hot Springs.

The next day it was a trip to Little Rock to Gregory Polaris\Indian then back up to Fayetteville. On Tuesday, (the only day that we had rain) we rode out to War Eagle to the War Eagle Mill. Then up through Hobbs state park and Rogers.

On Wednesday, we went to leave and my bike wouldn't start. I had just checked all of the battery connections and the ground cables last month. (the battery only read 12V, so I knew it was the issue) Luckily, the street next to our hotel had a nice slope and I could bump start my bike to get it running. I called the Honda dealer in Springdale, which was just a few miles from our hotel and they had a battery. Thirty minutes later, I had a new battery installed. The guys at the parts counter were a little surprised when I walked back in and handed them the battery core. Since that whole episode took up the majority of the morning, we took a short loop up to Noel, MO, then down through Siloam Springs, AR. Returning to Fayetteville via highway 16.

We headed down highway 71 Thursday morning to Alma, then took highway 64 to Clarksville. We turned onto highway 21 and rode up through the Ozark national forest and turned West on highway 16 to get back to Fayetteville. Since it was still the middle of the afternoon, we headed up to Rogers and stopped at Heritage Indian to check it out.

Friday we left Fayetteville and headed over to see our friends in Locust Grove, OK. We stayed there until Saturday afternoon, then we started heading North. We stopped at Pittsburg, KS that night and got a room at the Hampton Inn attached to the casino. We got up this morning and made the last 400 mile stretch home.

All tolled, we put on over 2100 miles.

MC-1 annual charity ride benefiting law enforcement officers killed or wounded. Julie and I ride every year. This year we had one ofc who was shot four times, another whose leg was shredded by a shotgun blast, another severely injured during a pursuit when he was rammed by the suspect. This event is always held at Columbine HS, which has special meaning for me since I was there on April 20, 1999. About 400 bikes this year and a perfect day for a ride.

Rode down to Monument Valley over the weekend. 1100 miles round trip. Weather was excellent, and stayed in the 70's and 80's for the most part. The first morning was cool in the 50's, and we only hit 90's for a couple of hours total.

Found a spot north of Mexican Hat where the state highway must have followed a mountain goat path down the cliff. It was so precarious that they cant even pave it. It was quite the treasure we came across.

Also stopped at Goblin Valley State Park. If you have ever seen the movie Galaxy Quest, it will look familiar.

Yup!! You guys certainly have some beautiful country out there with the wide open plains with all those cliffs and valleys.Around here,we only have the ocean and some small mountainous areas, just no wheres near what you guys have out there. But I can't really complain cause there is still quite a bit of country left around here, but even that is slowly, but surely disappearing with all the building going on around the four upper New England States! Rhode Island and Conn. are pretty much developed with nothing really to see other then industry, tall buildings,a few small parks, and a LOT OF TRAFFIC.Even Massachusetts is slowly but surely getting developed and what country we have left, which is the central and western part of the State, is slowly, but surely, disappearing too.Maine,New Hampshire, and Vermont are the places to travel as they still have a lot of lakes, pretty country and mountains which are especially pretty in the fall when the leaves turn..But ,I guess ya can't have everything!!Carry on gentlemen!! Dave!!!
