I thought it would be fun to read about our riding adventures.

I got out today and rode 54 miles on my Yamaha 850XS. The sky was blue and it was a warm 62 degrees afternoon, just right for the first ride of the year. The bike fired right up and ran like a champ no problems after sitting in the garage for 3 months. I buy my gas from a place that has 100% gas, no ethanol. I rode alone as I do most of the time. I have several routes, I call them laps, than I ride. Today's was on the river road run that is nice with a lot of curves and scenic views of the lake. The roads are all two lane and not very much traffic. The posted speed limits are 45 but on my bike 60 feels just right. Some of this is why I love to ride in the country; number of red lights 1, no. of cars I needed to pass 1, cars that passed me 0, cop cars 0, curves in the road many, smiles on my face - all the time. I didn't want to come home but the sun was going down and so was the temperature so I returned to my nest. I can't tell you how great that ride made me feel. Hell, I don't need to , you already know. Get busy riding my brothers and sisters and let's hear about it. Photos would be great too.

Mid-50s here in KC so the wife and I took an hour ride to a new brewery in the country. Enjoyed a tasty brew with some excellent (free!) chili and took a growler to go. After some time chatting with some other beer snobs, we rode back through some sprinkles and beat the showers back home. Days like this don't happen too often in the Midwest in January ... I'll take it!

Julie and I hopped on the bikes for an early morn ride to Larkspur, then Franktown. 33 degrees when we got close to the Palmer Divide. A tad brisk but a brisk ride is better than no ride!

We left Sydney on Monday morning at 9am and got back at 10am Thursday....2044 kilometres.
First day we went to a place called Wagga Wagga, the temperature hit 38 Celsius and we were melting!
Second day drove across a flat plain for 3-400 k's(560 k's all up) and the temperature hit 45 Celsius(113 Fahrenheit), my mate was on a Roadmaster and was nearly passing out with the combined heat from his engine and the sun. Made it to Mildura and had to quench our thirsts over and over again with copious amounts of amber nectar!!
We decided to leave Mildura at 5am the next morning to miss the heat the only problem with that is you have to be very wary of kangaroos, wallabies, emu's etc at that time of the morning as they have a tendency to leap out in front of you in some sort of insane death wish.
Tucked in behind a pick up till it got light and all was well, well sort of as the temperature started climbing again and by 10am was 42 C!
We had a big day in front of us as we were heading back to Sydney and wanted to do a lot of kilometres, ended up doing 707 K's.
The temperature kept rising and topped out at 46(115F) felt like my hands were burning off!! We had to keep stopping for water to pour all over my mate so he could keep going as he wasn't used to the extreme heat (being a Kiwi,wont hold that against him!!!)
Finally arrived at Cowra and once again headed straight for the Pub for life saving liquids and the Pub had no beer!!!!!! only joking, they had no beer left after we had been there for a few hours!!!!!we were ever so slightly thirsty.
Got up early again for the final run back to Sydney and you wouldn't believe it but it was cold. We had to go over the Blue Mountains and the temperature dropped to 11C.This is where my friend got payback as I only had a thin pair of gloves and my fingers froze off, they are still on the highway east off Cowra some where! He turned his heated grips and heated seat on as was toasty with the lovely glow coming from the Roadmaster"s engine.
The Scout never missed a beat, I must admit the stock seat was a little uncomfortable but all in all ok. Ibuprofen helped!!!
I was testing out my new Memphis shades wind shield and Viking saddlebags. I don't think I would have been able to do the trip without the windshield and love it.
The Viking bags had a modified spacer which I had my friend make so you could slip them into the original spools and just use 95mm bolts to go into the fender.....worked really well and stayed tight the whole trip, will get him to make me another 2 about 5mm longer as I have just slightly scuffed the belt guard nothing major. You can see them in the photos.
Will do another trip soon and try out the new Corbin Touring seat.

What a great ride report!! Those of us in the northern hemisphere are envious -- altho I suspect when we first hit that kind of heat we'll be looking for your reports saying how chilly it is. Great info too on the equipment mods.

Thanks Hink,
I will post some more photos of the Viking bag spool modifications when I get the new spool inner spacers made.
I forgot to say the engine temperature on the scout was at 96C and occasionally 97C which is when the fan kicked in.

We had a group ride planned and everone cancelled due to chance of rain. By the time they called I already had my boots on. I left the wife still in the shower and went alone for a 100 mile morning ride. Switched to the car and picked up the family and met the whimps in Knoxville for lunch.

Today, Saturday the 21st, was 81 degees and sunny most of the day here in the Texas Hill Country.

Took my Chieftain out for a short ride of about 80 miles just to get out and ride the hills and just enjoy the ride. Stopped off at a Buddy's place for a couple of hours before heading back home.

Was a good day.

Rode 100 miles one way to loco coyote In Glen Rose Texas. Drank some beer and ate barbecue with some friends. First time I've ever been there and it is an awesome place. I was the lone Indian there with all the others being Harley's. Got a lot of questions about my Scout, always had several people checking it out. Made it back to the house just before it starting pouring down rain in Waco, TX. Beautiful day for riding now the wind is blowing 50 miles an hour and raining. Tomorrow going to put my new windshield and Viking saddlebags on my Scout.

The wife says, go back to bed kids, Daddy has his boots on and he is heading out on that Indian. I don't know when we will see him again.

The wife and I took a ride out to Knucklehead Cafe in Rockmart, GA. Seems to be a popular destination for those of us on 2 wheels. Food and service were both good. If you're ever in the neighborhood, they have some cool old machines inside.

60 degrees in NW Ohio on the 21st of January. Unbelievable. Rain earlier in week washed salt off roads. Yeah, we rode 140 miles, mostly along the Maumee river, sampled the prime rib at the Jewell Café. Wonderful day - Dan

Julie and I jumped on the bikes and did the Franktown Loop. Her new Vance and Hines sound fabuloso-- so good I can't hear my shift points for the first three gears( and that's w her riding behind me) 44 degrees starting from our house and down to 38 degrees at Palmer Divide. Love this bike! Love this woman!

Every other year the Texas State legislature meets, we as bikers go to the state capitol to meet with our legislators and ask that they support bills that effect bikers and the rest of the public too.

About 500 of us showed up to and spent about 5 hours at the Capitol visiting and talking to our respective representative and senator.

It was a nice sunny and warm 77 degrees today the 23rd.
