Did you ride today

I thought it would be fun to read about our riding adventures.

I got out today and rode 54 miles on my Yamaha 850XS. The sky was blue and it was a warm 62 degrees afternoon, just right for the first ride of the year. The bike fired right up and ran like a champ no problems after sitting in the garage for 3 months. I buy my gas from a place that has 100% gas, no ethanol. I rode alone as I do most of the time. I have several routes, I call them laps, than I ride. Today's was on the river road run that is nice with a lot of curves and scenic views of the lake. The roads are all two lane and not very much traffic. The posted speed limits are 45 but on my bike 60 feels just right. Some of this is why I love to ride in the country; number of red lights 1, no. of cars I needed to pass 1, cars that passed me 0, cop cars 0, curves in the road many, smiles on my face - all the time. I didn't want to come home but the sun was going down and so was the temperature so I returned to my nest. I can't tell you how great that ride made me feel. Hell, I don't need to , you already know. Get busy riding my brothers and sisters and let's hear about it. Photos would be great too.

18 degrees here today with snow and ice on the ground. I just started the Scout and brought temp up from 37 to 80 then shut her down. Supposed to be in the 60s W, Th, and F so maybe will get some actual riding in then. Seems central NC has a wintry mix of "real cold" and "warm enough" days in Jan and Feb that stowing it away under a cover with a battery tender may not be necessary.
I went for a ride today. The weather here in Sydney Australia was around 32c, (94f), and my wife and i went on a lovelly ride to Berry and back, about 250km (150m) round trip. Got a bit hot in the crotch when we had to crawl on approch to the township (man that engine pumps out the heat on a hot day!). Sorry you are experiencing snow. We are quite lucky here in that we get to ride all year round. Some of my best rides are done in winter in temperatures of around 16 to 18c (60 to 65f). I hope your snow ends soon.

Regards Hank
Hmm ... note to future self: winter home in Sydney AU or southern FL. (I'm thinking the rides would be better in Sydney.)
Just a Few Teaser pics to add to this Thread .. Will be riding later today and add some more .. Basically this is a Loop as well.. Breakfast at Cuzins Cafe in Branford, FL, then on to the some good Curvy Roads at Olustee Battlefield in North FL Followed by the Suwanee River Run with the Bike in Front of the Stephen Foster Welcome Center .. This is about a One Hundred Mile Loop in my area, 80% of it Back Roads with Very Little Traffic .. Pics might not be in perfect order but that's how it went ..

Right in my backyard...I'm in Tallahassee. Nice roads abound in our areas.

Rode 75 miles in the 27 degree weather we had here in Tallahassee after shoving myself into my base layer (I call them mantie hose). Still froze my a$$ off.

Only 20 miles back and forth to work today, but it's mid-January in Chicago so, no complaints. Usually at this time of year there's snow and/or salt all over the roads preventing even short rides. [happy]
It is 68° in Mid Missouri, and although a bit windy, I rode around town and back roads for about an hour. Nice being back on the bike since last ride in December.
I bought it new in April of 1980

BEAUTIFUL 850!
My first bike was a new 1981 650 Special II. It was $1995, then I added bags, fairing, and tail trunk, oh and a "cycle sound" stereo. I remember the 850 triple as well, but it was above my budget. I saw a 650 in a barn the other day it was in really bad shape.

Cold and dreary here in Colorado but roads were good. Took julie to get her Vic, which had Vance & Hines plus LED headlight installed -- all ordered up prior to the big announcement. Good ride back -- brisk! 42 degrees. About 90 mins R/T.
