Did you ride today

I thought it would be fun to read about our riding adventures.

I got out today and rode 54 miles on my Yamaha 850XS. The sky was blue and it was a warm 62 degrees afternoon, just right for the first ride of the year. The bike fired right up and ran like a champ no problems after sitting in the garage for 3 months. I buy my gas from a place that has 100% gas, no ethanol. I rode alone as I do most of the time. I have several routes, I call them laps, than I ride. Today's was on the river road run that is nice with a lot of curves and scenic views of the lake. The roads are all two lane and not very much traffic. The posted speed limits are 45 but on my bike 60 feels just right. Some of this is why I love to ride in the country; number of red lights 1, no. of cars I needed to pass 1, cars that passed me 0, cop cars 0, curves in the road many, smiles on my face - all the time. I didn't want to come home but the sun was going down and so was the temperature so I returned to my nest. I can't tell you how great that ride made me feel. Hell, I don't need to , you already know. Get busy riding my brothers and sisters and let's hear about it. Photos would be great too.

Meggie, I live Mansfield and ride several different. Have fun.
Lived in Mansfield for 12 years, move March 2012, enjoyed riding down through Venus, May Pearl, Midlothian, Italy, & so many more. Every small town has a story.

Looks like Meggie's next bike, has the tan cigar tube behind left leg. Meggie?
Here we go again. Started snowing yesterday afternoon. Sleeting now and even getting thunder. So look out folks east and north of me. You are in for it!!!
Got 11 + inches this weekend, it will be a few days before I can ride again. Still love snow, makes me really love when I can get in the saddle
Roads clear rode down to Colorado Springs for a bike swap/meet. Parking lot full of bikes, only one Indian. It was easy to find my bike when I came out, it was the spot where are all the people were standing admiring it.

I was there also Caveman, bout 2. Parked my Scout next to a brand new Chieftan, dealer paper plates. I didn't see your bike though.
A couple of guys were next to my bike when I came out, admiring it and probably wishing they had one. They did a slow walk back to there HDs.
I didn't even know about the swap meet until that morning when my Mother-N-Law saw it in the paper,
I got there at 10:30 When I was riding out at noon the guy pulled in on the Chieftain. The reason I saw him is he dropped the bike. He could not have weighted 140 pounds & was unable to pick up bike. Several of us ran over to help him. I shook his hand congrating him on the bike. He stated he only had it a couple weeks. I told him about the Indian forum and pointed at my bike his smile got real big.

Felt bad for the guy dropping the bike, some people should know their limits. No stupid responses needed, just because you have the money to buy it, doesn't mean you should ride it. If age & size is a factor you should keep it in mind when buying your next bike.
There was nothing at the swap for Indian except leather & patches. They were raffiling off a 2015 Indian for Autism. Ride with Autism
Was this the swap meet on at the coliseum on I-70? Usually a good turnout for it but if so it's later than I remember.
Swap meet in Colorado Springs on Nevada.

Looks like next thing in Colorado Springs area is Veterans Benefit Above the Clouds, Filmore back up to Woodland Park on April 18. Might do that, depends on weather.
I did it last year, showed up, payed my donation, got pin then rode on to Cripple Creek by myself. I am not big on riding with a large group of riders I don't know.
When I got to Cripple C. I was there early enough to get a long sleeve very nice shirt ( they sell out quickly). I parked where I could get out easy, waited till all the bikes arrive then left. I was alone so no reason to hang around. Now I will be on an Indian!

Gentlemen - in all due respect . . . .Anyone can drop a 800+ pound bike, experienced or not - even Brock Lesner - no matter what their weight or strength. I challenge anyone to hold up 800 lbs. with just leg.
My comment was not about dropping a bike. I have done it, even forgot to put down the kick stand leaned it over to the highway bar before I caught it.
My comment is about being able to pick it up. This guy looked like he weighed between 120-130 at least in his 70's. Sorry but there is a time we all have to know our limits.
Caveman, my brother. my comment was not directed at you or anyone else in particular. I apologize, my brother, if my lack of word crafting appeared directed at your remarks. Absolutely no harm intended. :)
No apology needed. The bad thing about mail is you don't see or hear the other person. I was not offended in anyway. I just worry about people on bikes who may have lost the ability to ride a big bike. One of my military disabilities is my hands I worry about the day I can't grip the bars well enough to handle a situation that puts me and others in danger.
I don't ride in big motorcycle events any more because of people who never learned how to ride, don't know their physical limits, or just plain stupid.
(Can't fix the last one)
Open house in Perioa AZ for Indian, just in case your in the area. Husky?

Sure is purty though
We love the snow hate the 100 degree heat that we got in Texas. Hottest temp ever recorded here in Aug 79 degrees. Being March this will melt quickly on the roads. 50s today, 60 tomorrow, Saturday will be a grand day to ride in the mountains.

Tepee tent, sleeping bag, always ride with reflective straps on my packs on long trips, & gear for 1.5 weeks. Right at 2600 miles planned. Got to get the cobwebs out of the bike and fix that winter cabin fever for me.

Got to Phoenix Bike Fest, then went to Indian Dealership. Husky dropped in at 9am with deck shoes, cargo shorts, black t-shirt and says hey let's ride! Off we go on a short 220 mile ride through the mountains of AZ. One part of route was 158 curves over about 12 miles to Jerome AZ.
Outstanding day!
I highly recommend the route, but don't ask me where, route, or anything about direction. I just followed along on Husky's tour. Damn good tour guide he is.
