My understanding, in large part due to this forum:
Challenger/Pursuit vs Harley RG:
Better suspension, more power at stock M8 levels, fit and finish not as good. Less top heavy (although the '24 RG does seem better). "Fit" is better for guys my size (6' 1"). Dealers are more rare, aftermarket not as robust.
Challenger/Pursuit things to be aware of:
There appears to be no clear correlation to who will/won't have the problem. Apparently IM has not a great job of informing owners of progress, nor accepting responsiblity for same.
Net:
Coming from scads of Yamaha's and Honda's, that's quite a list. On the other hand I started asking question on the Indian forum because it I'd preferred it for my height and preference for a decent suspension. Will I move to a Harley forum and do some research there too? Yep. Maybe tonight, certainly not later than tomorrow.
What do I think right now?
Obviously I try to make informed decisions, and at this second I'm more disappointed in IM than I am the bike. It sorta feels to me like they've not done what needed to be done for their owners. I would not buy a new one right now as a direct result. But then I'm not either.
At this moment I'm thinking '21 or '22 challenger. I do want a tour pack, so a Pursuit at the right price is of interest, but that can be corrected. At this power level I don't care about the IMU of the DH or Limited, but as a asset it's likely prudunt to skip the base.
Why not the Harley? I suspect I can drop a cam into a '24+ road glide and have similar to greater power and an adequate suspension. I already know a "tall boy" seat is in my future with either bike. They feel similar weight wise now.
However from what I can see a '24 RG and a 22" challenger limited are ~ $7-8K cost delta, and I'd need ~ $1k for the cam work. Sure, I don't hear about Carplay issues or battery issues from the guys I know w/Harleys, but I don't much listen to music anyway. Heck, even $6k is a lot of battery's.
Some test rides over the next few days, perhaps a purchase this weekend..
My thanks for all the guidance given!

Challenger/Pursuit things to be aware of:
- '20's have something of an orphaned electronics system, including chipsets and wiring harness.
- '23 and up have encrypted ECU's.
- '20-22 have the plastic worm gear for the windshield. There were enough issues w/same that IM upgraded to a metal (Brass?) component.
- Ride command and Car Play are buggy for most, with some folks have fixes that work for them.
- Fit/finish, even paint not on par w/Harley.
- Whatever the bus and computerized components are, many owners appear to experience rapid battery drain/battery death. Possibly due to system failure to fully shut-down on command, likely exacerbated by cell comm, data uploads to IM, and a small battery.
