Hi all,

I have a brand new Packtalk Bold that I tried installing today on my Shoei FR-SR (full-face) helmet. I opted to use the (removable) spring clip attachment install method rather than the (permanent) glue-on mounting method. Inside the spring clip, there is a rubber insert that came lose and bunched up at the bottom of the mounting hardware where edge of the helmet lands. I pulled it out and find that the rubber insert is (was) glued on with a double-sided super-sticky patch which is now messed up and unusable.

Has anyone else had this problem? What should I use to re-glue the rubber to the inside of the spring clip? It seems like a very kludgy mounting method. I wanted to avoid the glue-on mounting method because it is not removable.

I already emailed Cardo, but their email auto-reply said it would be a number of days before they would even be able to look at this problem.

Needless to say, this sucks because the thing is brand new.

I had a similar issue when I installed it on my half helmet. My test run push the rubber grip to the bottom of the clip. It took me forever to straighten it out. I then used a popsicle stick to hold it in place while I jammed into the helmet. I can't tell how it looks inside the dome of the helmet, but I felt like I won that battle. Good luck with yours.

Its a really tight fit and having to jamb it in the way it seems to need feels so wrong. It seems to need huge pressure to push it in and even when its in, the mount that takes the PackTalk dosen't even sit flush against the helmet with the rubber pads not even touching. I'm very underwhelmed. I felt the Sena mounting system (with allen bolts clamping down) was much easier to install (without things coming apart) and ended up feeling more sturdy once done.

Like my old buddy always said: "Oh well, can't have everything... Where would you put it?"

I have the LS2 valiant. I used the glue on method. Blow dryer is what was recommended for removal. 2 day trip to Olympic peninsula with 3 bikes and 5 cardo units. Worked great. Also ride to Mt. Rainier worked great.

Turns out I made it work. I glued the rubber back in with Household Goop and then reinserted the clip carefully, using a feeler gauge between the inside of the shell and the rubber so that it did not bind. Done!

I just spend the afternoon swapping out the "standard" (non-JBL) speakers that came with my brand new Pactalk Bold. The speakers it came with are too big and do not set into the speaker wells on the Shoei RF-SR. I ended up scavenging the Sena SMH10-R-A0202 "Slim Speakers" from another helmet. The Sena slims are closer to 32mm than the standard 40mm width. The 40s were just too big and rocked across the top of the Shoei speaker well without really sitting in it. They gave me a wicked ear ache the other day, so I had to do something. All the splicing and shrink tubing is done now and things work. Hopefully ear ache is gone tomorrow!

Too bad Cardo and/or Shoei do not seem to publish a helmet compatibility chart (Cardo does, but only for the Packtalk Slim), or even a spec sheet line item on the cutout diameter.

Now if I could only get that stupid Google Assistant to unlock my phone by voice and take hands-free voice commands... (I'm reading they actually removed that capability with a recent "upgrade"!

The speakers fit fine in my xl LS2. I had to dremel out a deeper slot in my wife's med size LS2. Just used the supplied velcro pads for a pattern.
