Well the first estimate has come and gone. Got a call from the dealership today to tell me it is now between 8-31 and 9-30. I was told the bike shows it is being planned in their order status. I ordered this bike beginning of February. Not look good for me to have it in time for the Daytona trip in October. Fingers crossed.

Cancelling the order may not yield results but vocal negative feedback, especially written on the web will.

If I would have paid more attention to this thread back in May, I probably wouldn't have ordered my bike. I would have either gone with a sport-touring bike, or waited until Nov./Dec. to order knowing that I MIGHT get it by June the following year.

You may say "BS", and to those simpletons/dolts that don't get it, I just say... grow a brain. Those of us living in snow country will have our bikes sitting over the winter wasting the warranty away. We'll be at the end of the warranty period by the time the I get to actually ride the bike and it would show any signs of part/component failure etc. It's a BAD deal all the way around. Furthermore how the F*CK am I going to get the bike home with snow on the roads (Salt Lake City... see "winter olympics"). Yeah, lets try to toss that up on a flat bed in the snow and take icy roads up... this is why I ordered in May!

Sorry this is on Indian, and depending upon their response when I call today and after drafting formal (more professional) correspondence, I'll be cancelling my order as well. This is less and less about "riding" and more and more about a "financial" decision, due to the company's inability to advise it's client base properly. When I first went to the dealership I was told late June - July. Now we're into September.
Well that escalated quickly. I’m quite certain I have a brain or I wouldn’t be here having this conversation. I stand by my statement with the caveat that we all have a different set of circumstances to deal with that may be driving our decisions. I also stand firm on the fact that people canceling their orders and airing their grievances online will in no way hurt Indian as there are plenty of people with more ideal circumstances out there continuing to purchase their products. However, I do agree that their tracking system and the way they communicate with customers needs to be improved. You could maybe try harder not to get offended by other peoples results as many people in your same situation empathize with yours, and rightfully so.

Strawman argument <---- learn the term so you don't make an A$$ of yourself in the future.

UPDATE/EDIT: As I was typing this post, the Indian dealership called and said "Hey I know your bike isn't in... however we did receive a brand new Indian Scout Bobber that isn't spoken for". So riddle me this ACE-MCFLY... how the hell did the dealership get a brand new BS-Bobber in, that's not spoken for, when here I am waiting on my order. If its true what they say and they don't issue orders until there's a VIN... I'm f*ckin perplexed.

I will be racing in to the dealer this weekend and potentially doing this over the phone, but this is a bad look for Indian. (Just in case you think I'm full of it, pic below) View attachment 704191

The expectations were very clear 12+ weeks. Not 12 weeks but twelve Plus which means a minimum of 12 weeks or longer.

08312022: Bike is at my Dealer

After two previous emails with no response, I called the dealer yesterday. Today they called back and said the bike is in....that it could have been in since Monday😠. Back on 8/23 I sent an email just asking the turn around time when they get the bike...is it a couple of hours, a day? No response. Then on 8/28 I sent an email letting them know the site says "In Transit" and asked if they had a VIN, or anticipated ETA. No response. So yesterday I called, they said it was my salesmans day off....my message was...check your email. So I got a call today...and after zero comms for 3+ months...I'm getting the sales job on the extended warranty. Not a heavy sale....but still there. I think I'm going to pass. I hope to pick her up tomorrow.

**This could have happend a day or two earlier. I skipped a day of checking, maybe even two...not sure.

The folks at Indian phoned me today to let me know I should have my bike by the end of September. That was my cut off date to deliver me a bike or give me a deposit back. One year to get a bike is really ridiculous.
I just got the same answer for my Pursuit....

For all of y’all lucky enough to be picking up your bikes, MAKE SURE YOU ARE STILL GETTING THE MSRP YOU WERE PROMISED. I’ve heard of dealerships trying to push the new MSRP and not honoring the one from when we placed our orders.
Addressed this with my dealer early on, what they told me was if was ordered before May the quoted price stands. He said there will probably be a 5% increase in destination charge.

08312022: Bike is at my Dealer
09012022: Picked bike up, rode it home (with 3 free tshirts)

Took almost 4 months. At the time of purchase I was told "late July or early August". So late August (when it actually arrived) really isn't that bad all things considered.

My knee jerk reactions from seeing her, to sitting on her, to riding her home.....
  • She looks awesome. I made the right choice....for now. ;) (There was an orange Chaly DH on the floor...so that one tugs at me too). I got at least two compliments before I even left the dealership.
  • I was a little surprised how almost cramped I was. Not quite cramped, but for some reason my body (namely legs) expected to be stretched out more. Zero issues, but just an initial feeling. I'm 6'1".
  • The rear brake "peg" feels a little high. But my frame of referrence is my small dual sport bike where the brake peg is almost even with the bottom of my boot. With the SDH, I have to sort of move my foot a good chunk up and over to brake.
  • The jury is still out on the seat. I only put about 20 miles on, but I was already feeling it a bit. Now, some/most/all of this might be due to coming off a long weekend in the saddle of my other bike, where I spent 3 long, and at times painful, days riding.
  • She Stinks! All the chemicals (paint, grease, fluids, etc.) heating up for the first time can somethimes smell...good...or even just different.....she smelled very chemically. I'm sure a few more heat and cool cycles will help that go away.
  • Kept her in Standard Mode the whole time. It's going to be hard enough to ride her mello during the break in period, so I don't need to be tempted with Sport mode just yet. Also, all is so new to me so I'm taking it easy.
  • And even though the bike was reading the outside temps as upper 80's/low 90's, the fan never kicked on! 🤪

You've waited long enough.......and yes...as a diehard dirt bike rider...I took her off pavement the very first day.....
