Bike Order Master Tracking List

I figured it would be nice to see when people are ordering bikes and how long it's taking. We do this kind of thing in the hellcat forums too, which is why I wonder why it hasn't been done? List your order dates and update your post if you get the bike delivered or receive an update.

Ordered:
Challenger Dark Horse Icon late April.
Edit: lol, dude at indian emailed me saying he talked to the floor and got them to bump my build up asap, because it was supposed to be prioritized under these circumstances. I told him, but it's supposed to ship by 4 days from now, 7/31.... how is it still sitting there unfinished.
Edit: Just changed to built with firm ship date.

That coaster was a get fucked token lolol
LOL! This truly made me chuckle because it’s true. And I agree, instead of sending a fucking coaster, just downright tell me: “hey dude, we are truly estimating your wait time is end of September” in the meantime, here’s a frigging coupon for you to go ride one of the bikes we have at the dealership for free for a couple of hours.

Anyway, whose turn is it to go ***** at Polaris today? I swear we should make a rotating schedule to hound them everyday until we see our bikes 😂

Ha! How cute, this forum censors the word “beeotch” but not “fucking coaster”.
I just called Polaris. I was told they have no information without the tracker. I was told the tracker should be back up in a couple days.
In June all Darkhorse and blacked out bikes, had a 6-month estimated manufacturing/delivery time frame. Thats 16 weeks. I know this because my dealer showed me the info screen on Est build times, and they were way out into the end of the year. Some dealers won't tell you that because they want that sale.
[/QUOQUOTE]
I get your point... And I was shown the computer screen when I ordered my bike in March which showed a build date early June which I was good with, so I sold my Rm to make room ... my problem, no realistic updates since then. .. just tell it is not coming till December and I will be ok. Maybe not happy but good with it. If I would have known that a while ago I would have picked up another bike to fill the void in the interim or just ride my Ural more .

BTW, 6 months is approximately 26 vice 16 weeks... I am over 20 weeks and still counting so I may see 6 months of wanting...
I finally got a picture of the inside of the factory. I’m guessing one of these is my long awaited Dark Horse.

So here is the deal and some of you won't like this. The order times for bikes since last year has been 12 + meaning PLUS weeks and has been that way for quite some time. 12 + weeks means 12 weeks minimum to when every you get it, a year or 2.

When you guys got estimates for delivery times, those were based on the best available information based on parts manufacturing and delivery from CHINA. In the past 3 months, China has gone into massive factory shutdowns like there was back in 2020 and thrown the supply chain from China in absolute insanity. dates that were pretty much set now have been thrown into the unknown.

Anything with black parts is massively delayed because they are all done in Chinatown. Black engines, dark horse, chips for the new ride commands all come from kung pao chicken land.

One fact that many have a hard time digesting is that Indian Motorcycles are Chinese motorcycles assembled and finished in the US. All the hardware, engine castings, wheels crash bars, sissy bars, engine guards, wiring harness, electronics are all manufactured in China. And China is having massive production issues. Harley does the same thing by the way as most companies do. The computers people are whining on, smart phones, all made in cashew Shripmville.

The Dark Horse blacked out bikes, may not show up until December.

The mistake Polaris did was create that Est Delivery schedule, because all it did was heighten unrealistic expectations. When there was all the excited talk about the July delivery times, I laughed to myself and knew that wasn't going to happen.

Some dealers may not have been honest with you.

Again....I respectfully disagree. It's a choice....you can cross your fingers and hope something happens, and hope you get lucky...or you could take the medicine and inform your customers PRIOR to a deadline being missed. Do the update, and if something good happens, you can always reverse course to the happiness of all.

We all get that things change. Buuuuuut......the dealer quotes an estimated time, that time is further confimed by a portal created by the manufacturer. The customer isn't picking these dates. While folks would not be tickled....I think it would be much better to update these dates before they expire...versus several misses, and several moves back to TBD.

Maybe there are folks that prefer the misses and repeated moves back to TBD....I mean, there are vegetarians in this world too...so anything is possible.

Crap I replied to the wrong person !!!
Meh... deleted this post. No real point in it.

Que sera sera
Yea it's all terrible.....there's no way Indian doesn't know what the status are on things they just don't wanna actually say so they rather play games and provide false hope.

Looking great, that's a nice color. Looking back I wish I would have gotten something ordered other than matte black to stand out a bit.
Maybe we should coordinate a mass return mailing of our coasters!!!

Dear Mike Dougherty:

You can keep this coaster....I want my bike.

Suggestions.

Quickly create a 3 person team.....1 person from manufacturing, 1 person from transportation, 1 person from customer service. Have these 3 peeps get on a daily call to review open orders that have commuicated ship dates in the next 14 days. Confirm what is going on, and update ship dates as needed.

And maybe pump the marketing brakes a tad....see if any of these resources could be diverted to helping complete bikes.

Sincerely,

ME

ps. Fire the person who approved putting the word "ELITE" on the Elite bikes. For a company that designs great looking bikes....how in the hell did that look slip by? The overal name is cheesy enough, but then to take that clunky, block lettering that looks like it was purchased at Michaels, and then slap it on the bags....I mean...WTF?!

Ya I could have gotten a black one like a month earlier cause someone backed out after it arrived. I am very happy I waited.
The guys on the r/IndianMotorcycles are equally pissed.
However I have seen some dealers discuss that they've been receiving a lot more bikes recently, and in greater delivery quantities. Hopefully that means that Indian is continuing to pick up speed/more shifts to catch up to demand.
Look...

This is the age old business faux pa of not setting expectations properly, and over promising and under delivering. So not only passive, but actively blowing smoke up my lower posterior.

Indian produces an end user product, so unfortunately they don't just sell motorcycles, they have to manage clients. I just don't feel that they've done this in my situation. I would have been much more amiable to, and happy with, the dealership telling me that the bike won't be ready until September '22. This would have also given me the option of holding off and ordering sometime in December of '22 knowing full well that I'd definitely have the bike in May of '23 and I would have been in a much better position to enjoy my bike.

Now, I'm worried about winter storage, and thinking about how to get it broken in, get the 1st service performed, and get it prepped within a few weeks. So... because of this my experience has already started off negatively. Seriously, I can wait to enjoy the ride... not a problem for me, I've waited 8yrs but the stressors due to other circumstances present problems and detract from the pleasure of owning a bike. This is exactly why I'm upset...and call me strange, but I actually plan my finances, and I plan the "care" for motor vehicles, I want them to last so I can enjoy them for a long time and/or get the resale value out of them that I want to.

I do NOT want to get this bike on Oct. 1, and have only a week or two to get it broken in, and have to rush all over creation to get an emergency service in, rush back to the Harley dealership and have it stored; yeah ain't that f'ing funny, the HARLEY DEALERSHIP STORES BIKES... Indian, take note... provide this winter service/storage for your clients ($1.00 per day). Lastly, my customer service experience in the Harley Dealership (I went in to ask about winter storage, and they treated me like gold even though I preordered an Indian) was much better than both Indian dealerships in my area... and maybe that tells me something, maybe I've made a mistake in buying an Indian. Seriously though, the two cute girls at the Harley Dealership (even with my dweeb geek-ish business attire on... because stopped by during work) treated me like I was a lifelong Harley rider. Meanwhile, rolling into the Indian dealerships I was made to wait, and walked around like a lost puppy until someone took the initiative to say hello. Not to mention my Indian dealership promised I'd get bi-weekly calls with updates on my build... ROFLMAO... not a single f'ing call; so why even say that to me.

Just a cluster-f from day one... oh did I mention the parts guy a couple weeks ago told me they had the matte black exhaust shielding in stock, so I bought it, and now the new manager (of the dealership) tried to find it AND F'ING COULDN"T!!!! And people wonder why I'm the anal prick I am... well it's because everyone else F's up royally, so there have to be anal pricks like me to heard the damn cats.
You have very eloquently said what I was thinking for the last 3-4months of my 7month wait.
Even my Indian dealership experience was strangely similar, with the exception of a nice lady I contacted when parts or service failed to respond to my calls and emails.
I can say that the wait is worth it. Once you get your bike, All the bullshit seems to disappear.
I never expected to make friends at the dealership or have loyalty to Indian.
Looks, reliability followed by price are the factors used in my discussion but reading your post reminds me of
the bitterness I was feeling throughout the waiting process.
Hope your wait is soon over!
The friendliness at my local dealer is part of the reason I'm still hanging in there to be honest
