My sad story!! I have posted parts of the story in other sections of this Forum but thought I would put it all together here.

-Decided to purchase a Scout Bobber, July of 2021
-Drive 2hrs to nearest dealership. NO stock. 12+ weeks for delivery (this time frame is the end of riding season in ONT Canada)
-Ordered bike Dec 16, 2021

• Email confirmation followed 5-6 days later.
• Progress bar went to SCHEDULED approximately mid Jan (can't remember exact date) Shipping TBD

-Dealer contacted me April 15 with an update. Shipping date is scheduled April 16 to May 31 (6 week delivery window)

• 5-6 days later Progress stayed at SCHEDULED but shipping changes to April 16 to May 31 (same info deal provided)
• June 1, contacted dealer. (my first inquiry since purchase) Dealer informs my shipping is "TBD". Email Indian (Corp, not dealer) as to what is going on
• Email received, Case number given to my inquiry, follower by a text asking "what dealer I purchased at". I forwarded to info.

-June 2, Progress still at SCHEDULED, shipping changed back to "TBD" waiting on a reply from my inquiry to Indian!

In my 50's now but feeling like a child that was shown a lollypop and told, "You can't have it!"

I feel for ya... been thru the same, in a slightly different way. Back in 2012 I'd heard rumblings of a "unicorn" being built by Ford in Germany. An AWD Focus RS putting out 350hp/ft lb. I spent 5yrs saving for a downpayment, then 2017 arrived. I went over to the Ford dealership and picked up my ride, and 7 months later realized mine was one of the VIN that had the wrong head-gasket installed. They tried to replace the gasket but the tech doing the work screwed up the tappet kit, he turned the engine over and BOOOM!

I spent another 6 months going thru the reacquired vehicle (replacement) process with Ford, arguing/fighting etc. I even had to argue with my lender because they didn't want to do the deal at first; what gives? Brand new vehicle for old vehicle amount?? Who wouldn't take that deal. So 6 months later I finally get my 2018 Focus RS, watched it roll off the truck via Georgia from Germany (I was in North Carolina at the time). I picked up the vehicle right away, started driving down the road... and I swear... I've never seen anything like it but, a huge semi-truck lost its entire exhaust system in front of me. One 6ft section broke off, I tried to dodge, but it went right thru the front end of the car... took out the rad and the intercooler. One month later after going thru insurance and having that mess cleared up, I took the car right from the auto-body shop to a family gathering on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in NC. I was broad sided by a drunk driver on the driver side, and pushed into oncoming traffic, t-boned on the passenger side and lay unconscious in the middle of the road. Some other crazy/bizarre nuances but (50 miles on odo)... wasn't meant to have that car I guess.

Anyways... it can always be worse, I'm just glad I have a bobber in the queue; bought radical radius pipes which are sitting in my living room right now etc. Anyways, I'm enjoying the anticipation...

I ordered a Scout bobber in Dec 2021. I hope the exhaust comes in black but it is my understanding that all Scout’s now come with chrome exhaust.
How long did it take for Indian to reply to you?
I contacted them 7-8 days ago and still no reply.
They did text me the same day to ask what dealership I purchased at but no contact since.

Thought I'd also send my communication with Owners Connect at Indian that I had today since I know a few folks in this thread have been waiting on CDH Icon's.
After connecting with the Production Team, my bike is anticipated to ship to the dealer "beginning of August".
Their reasoning is the Dark Horse exhaust paint delay, as well as other various shortages and increased demand, which others have shared before.

All of that said, I get that this very much is a first world problem, it's a want not a need, and I'm fine waiting a few extra months for what will likely be a bike I'll own for 10+ years.
However, I do think it's frustrating that I get more intel on new lead time from this forum and reddit than I do from Indian, and that there's prioritization being placed on new models. Like, how is the Challenger Elite going to be launched and shipped before my order that's been in the system for six months and it's virtually the same bike (at least in the parts that are seemingly causing the delay).

Anyways, just wanted to share new intel to the community. Safe riding all!

They need to be more forthcoming with Information.
Even if the parts shortages ended tomorrow, the log jam of orders will take a long time to process.

Just got an email from the dealership. They have a black smoke scout bobber that someone backed out on. I can have that one if I want. It’s not Maroon metallic smoke but I can have it now. The estimate I am getting from the dealership is ship date of June 1 to June 30. Decisions decisions

I ordered the Maroon Metallic Smoke, but it was a hard decision between that and Black Smoke.

I used it and they responded with "what dealership did you purchase from"
I informed them what dealership and never heard from them again.

There was another Canadian on here who I saw had waited a substantial time for his bike. I'm not sure why there was an issue with his Canadian destination but you might want to ping Indian to make sure yours is in the next batch. I have a feeling they're lining up all of the Black Smoke bikes and going to push out a larger order of them mid-July. Can't hurt to ask right?

The real answer is nobody knows. China has instituted massive factory shutdowns the last 4 months due to covid. Yes, most of the parts holding up these bikes are made in China. When many of you ordered these bikes, the shutdowns were not instituted yet. And along with the massive shipping delays and stalemate parts are sitting in China, and on ships out at sea unable to port and unload.

The times Polaris is giving everyone are best guesses based on the unknown.

I due somewhat agree with what you have said, with the exception of your last sentence!

I don't believe the majority of bikes ordered today or in the near future will be delivered in 12-15 weeks.
Even if the shutdowns ended today the back log of orders will not permit that time frame!

Would be interesting to know if they are prioritizing higher profit models.
Indian has stated "first come, first served" but I wonder?

Ummm...I don't think that's how this works. Production lines are based upon efficiencies of scale, supply chain management, and profits; not just profit. From my understanding Indian is exactly like other manufacturers who will retool an assembly line for a specific line of bikes and then produce any/all variations of that bike. So your scout bobbers/rouges/ vanilla scouts would be produced all in one batch... then your chiefs... and so on; and they keep this rotation going in order to fulfill all customer needs. If they're actually producing on a first come first served basis across their entire portfolio of bikes... well, they're doing it wrong! Now there may be some crossover between line-ups, such as paint and accessories... but for the most part the above would hold true. Plus I wouldn't want a set of production line workers constantly switching between a Bobber, then a Chief, then a Vintage, then a Rogue etc... that's when mistakes happen. It's all about the GROOOVE baby!

*Any supply chain grads, or business management folks out there that can confirm?

Also of note is that the higher end bikes are EXPENSIVE, and are usually purchased by people with a lot of disposable income, and those customers are usually very discerning clients who want customization; which is a lot of time/money. This is my guess as to why some of the bikes are delayed... if you're asking for a large amount of customizations... you're going to wait. Those of us with cookie cutter bikes that will end up modding on our own, well... we don't have to deal with that wait time as much.

I posted a couple days ago but my Bobber/Black Smoke, was ordered on May 17th, and Indian just confirmed with me the other day that it would be shipped July 10 - July 25th. I even told the guy "don't blow smoke up my arse, I'm not going to get upset, I'm just trying to plan mod purchases, insurance, and storage... give it to me straight". So I'm pretty sure he was being honest with me, and if it takes longer... meh...that's life.

Did both of you Canadians email Indian directly on their website? The issue with the above process that I outline is that if you're "unlucky" enough to catch them at the end of a production line, you'll have to wait for the next production line of that model; this could be the case for both of you. It wouldn't surprise me if you emailed them and they responded with exactly what they told me "July".

I emailed customer support 2 weeks ago. they inquired what dealership I purchased at. I forwarded that info promptly and never heard from them again.
I agree with you quote of assembly line retooling for different line of bike, was just a generalizing on what Indian wed site was stating.

FYI I ordered Marron metallic smoke. Picking between that and Black smoke was the hardest part for me. lol

If it makes you feel better, I think YOU picked the right color; honestly I'm kind of wishing that I'd gone with that maroon smoke, it gives the bike a little more character than just the flat black. I'd go back and change my color if I thought it wouldn't hurt my place in line but with things being the way they are...the black is my "second choice" so, I'll live (I'm also a Michigan fan, so Scarlett and Grey = Big NO NO)

If you haven't heard back from them, send them another message...I'm a very courteous and patient person, and sometimes I wonder if "asking" puts me at the back end of the line. However, in your case it already seems that you've waited long enough. Just sayin', maybe ping them again and find out.

Out of Country vacation adds another 2.5 weeks and it’s August.

Originally from Ann Arbor yup, father was an M grad, and I grew up about a mile away from the stadium (BigHouse); I didn't get in, had to go to Hopkins instead (lmao). I've been back a few times since my family left in '84, and glad I never stayed, but enjoy the game day atmosphere. Been to quite a few college stadiums actually, and enjoyed each one; UF Florida "The Swamp" is where we left my brother for his college career... that place is also amazing! Never seen that many jorts and daisy dukes in my life... just a riot lol. Also been to UNLV's stadium which is really neat and BYU, and Utah (both fun places).

I remember as a kid (long long time ago), traveling up to Canada... and visiting a theme park; can't remember the name of it. However, what I remember most is how 'clean' Canada was/is! If I could stomach the cold weather I would move up there in a heartbeat, but Vegas spoiled me because it's riding weather year-round; though July and August are brutal... nothing like riding when it's 110 degrees outside and you feel like your shoes are going to melt to the pavement lol.

As far as "black exhaust" goes...order the black heat shields, or just paint it black; someone else on here did Krylon Matte Finish and I think it was darn near a perfect match with the paint that Indian uses; I can picture a whole bunch of Indian employees picking up boxes of Krylon at Home Depot lmao...

Theme park… Wonderland near Toronto or Boblo Island (in Detroit River, across from Amhurstburg)

I'm hoping my bike will be on the same truck. Our dealership's are hours apart.

Coincidently yesterday, at my local Tim Horton, getting coffee, I struck a conversation with a man driving a Chieftain. Told me he had a friend that also ordered a SB in Dec and still waiting.
