I was preparing a nice video for everyone on how to change fork oil, and I opened up the nacelle on the vintage. I had been warned about the 4 zip ties attached to the nacelle backing plate, but not about how short the wires were for the auxilliary light switch. Well, I pulled it right out of the first connector, so there is about 4 inches of wire from the switch itself then nothing, because the wires came right out of the connector clip, so I couldn't identify what wires go in which position. These wires are black, white, red and green. Pictures to follow. . . I can't figure out how to create a post on taptalk on my phone. I tracked it down on the wiring diagram in the service manual, but it only shows the other end, where the wires are grey/red, pink/green, dark green/black, and black.
I bought a 4 pin wire connector on Amazon, which was very nice, and better quality, actually - also water proof, like many of the connectors on the Chief. It came with wires already attached to both male and female ends. I want to wire it up correctly, solder it, and move on. This is a fairly simple job, but I can't find the other end of the switch described anywhere in the service manual. I can see the wiring diagram that shows that black is ground, and other wires go to the VCM or some other connection point, so I don't want to make a mistake with this. It seems to be common that connectors on this bike have different wire colors on either side of the connector, which makes no sense to me, especially when there is no indication of how they attach.
