Hello,
I purchased a slightly used 2024 Challenger Dark Horse and also purchased Apple CarPlay dongle. Here is the description link, which cannot be pasted here

2025 Wireless CarPlay Adapter for iPhone, Converts Factory Wired to Wireless CarPlay Dongle for Cars from 2016 and iOS 10+, Plug and Play, No Latency

I have tried several ways to have Car play started on my Bike using the dongle, but no luck

Can someone help me here and have CarPlay started on my bike using a dongle instead of the Cardo headset?

I tried as follows

Attempt # 1
  • Connected the Dongle to my iPhone 14 Promax BT
  • Connected the Dongle to my bike's USB cable
  • iPhone was able to connect to the Dongle
  • The minute I connect the Dongle it's reporting that you need a Wireless Headset to use Apple CarPlay play
Attempt # 2
  • Connected Dongle to my bike USB cable
  • Connected the Dongle to Bike BT
  • Connected Iphone to Bike
  • iPhone was able to connect to the Bike
  • The minute I connect the Dongle its reporting that you need a Wireless Headset to use Apple CarPlay play
To further validate the dongle, I tested it on my Truck, and it worked with the iphone

Additional Notes
I tried connecting my phone and Cardo headset that worked, and Apple CarPlay was showing I don't want to use the headset, only want to use the dongle, and the Iphone

Thanks in Advance

You’re going to need a headset device (like a Sena) -or- a Bluetooth device that mimics a headset (like the one pictured) and pair that to the bike. After that, you should be able to use the wireless CarPlay device.

The reason the wireless dongle worked on your truck and not on the bike is that your truck has a speaker built in for CarPlay - so there’s no need for an auxiliary Bluetooth device like a Sena.

Maybe I’m confused. So you plug the dongle into the USB connection. Then pair the phone to that. Then, use a wireless device, like a sena, Cardo, Meadhawk, or BT headphones, only paired to the bike. Then you should be good to go.

Still not resolved after multiple attempts, I will return the dongle and purchase another one
Dongle should act as a Head set and let Apple Carplay show on the screen

You need theee things to make it work.
1) I phone that can use BT.
2) The dongle to connect to the BT phone.
3) A Cardo, sena or a Meadhawk, or something like it, that connects to the cigarette lighter to connect to ride command.
The dongle does not work by itself to make CarPlay work. YOU HAVE TO EITHER HAVE A MIC OR MIMIC ONE.

Thanks for your help. Remember, the requirement is not to use the BT headset, I am want to use Car Play for Google maps and other apps like the Garage door opener

You need 2 things to make it work.
1) I phone that can use BT.
2) The dongle to connect to the BT phone.

Connect the dongle to the USB port of the Ride command
Connect the Iphone BT to the Dongle BT
It should work as BT dongle should act like a Wireless head set
I cannot paste a Link here, but several videos showing how it can be done it's my dongle giving me hard time

You need 3 devices.

1 your phone
2 the wireless dongle
3 a headset device (cardo, airpods, maedhawk, etc )

There is no other way around it.

You can use a cardo heatset, or earbuds to the bike and still play music through the big speakers. Just go to the audio settings page in ride command and find the output toggle and set it to speakers.

This issue has been resolved
Thanks for all the guidance

Here is what I did

1 I connected the male connection of Maedhawk using USB type A to USB-C to the wire coming out of the Ride command
2 Added Maedhawk as a BT device on the Ride command
3 Connected the iPhone wire to the Maedhawk female side. Connected the iPhone to the iPhone wire
I can see the CarPlay on the Ride command screen

You cannot do the wireless CarPlay in the above-mentioned setup in order to do wireless CarPlay you need to connect a wireless CarPlay dongle

Here is the link to the Maedhawk
