If you are able to use Car Play/Android Auto using your cellphone wireless connection, this would eliminate the need for the RC subscription. Giving the current unreliability of RC sounds like a good trade-off.

What if you don't have an iPhone. Do you think it will still work with android independently?

I was wondering if you had to initiate the setup with the iPhone first in order to use android.
