ABS light on and no odometer

I recently had new tires put on my 2018 Indian Chieftain Classic . The new rear tire is a little larger than the previous one.
However, now my ABS light will not go off and my Odometer is not working. The brakes appear to work fine even with a hard fast stop the brakes did not lock up.
Any ideas?

@EvilMonkey responded to a similar thread in 2018. I’ve tagged him, so hopefully he’ll respond. Until then, here’s my speculation - if reading the old thread correctly, the odometer is linked to the front wheel. If that’s correct, & you have an ABS light on and no odometer, that seems to indicate the issue is the front wheel. So, did the tire changer not get the front put back together correctly or damaged the tone ring/speed sensor in the process? It could be something as simple as an incorrect air gap between the tone ring and the speed sensor.

@TigerGA is correct … it’s an issue with the front wheel speed sensor … it’s mounted near the front brake caliper on the left side …

Follow the wire up to the connector … under the fairing …

You can check the tone ring for dirt or debris… The sensor is probably bad and needs to be replaced … If you’re mechanically inclined you could do it yourself… (it’s the easier of the 2) …
The part is around $225 … I don’t know what the dealer would charge for an install … it shouldn’t be more than 1/2 hour labor …
If you do it yourself … shop around you may find a better price …

With the front WSS out … nothing odometer related is working … trip meters, miles to empty, ect …

The rear tire … if you went with a bias ply 180/65B16 instead of the Radial 180/60R16 … your Speedo will be more accurate…

If it worked before you had the tires changed and now it does not they probably damaged the sensor when they removed the front tire. I remove the sensor to keep from damaging the face of it when I remove the wheel assy. If you remove that allen screw (hold onto the shims) and the face of the sensor shows damage I would go back to them and make them fix it. Dean

It would take but a few minutes to check both the tone ring and sensor to ensure they are not damaged! A lot longer to continue theorising what the issue might be! I’d wager tone ring or sensor as others!

Go back to the people that caused the issue and get them to put it right then!

Are you getting any codes? CkEng light?

My rear WSS went out and I rode with it for 2 months waiting on the part … I did get a code but only at the beginning… then no codes just the ABS light on and no speedo …

So ABS light on and no odometer… I still believe your front WSS is bad …

I did find these … and there are used ones on eBay as well … There are NO guarantees they will work … Both eBay and Amazon have a 30 day return policy…
Amazon…
