Those of us who ride a 2014 or 2015 Indian, know they are nicely engineered and a truly modern motorcycle. In addition, part of the cachet of riding the Indian is its history dating back to 1901.

We all know more or less of the history. Here is a snippet that Canada Post dug up when it issued its 1914 Indian commemorative stamp in 2013.

A couple noteworthy items are that the 1914 Hendee Special boasted 38 improvements over the 1913 model. Also it was built in Canada at a factory that operated from 1912 ti 1916

Danos, VERY cool post! I've always been a fan of the Indian motorcycle and knew just a small part of their history. Since I pre-ordered my Scout I've been researching the history constantly. Items like you just posted are a treasure. Thank you very much! Great pics!
