I have 2019 Chieftain. Considering the rear engine deactivation, I have not yet experienced any major heat issues. However, I was wondering if de-catting (catalytic converter removal) would improve the exhaust note and performance.

My local dealer offers what they call an X Pipe that replaces the stock catalytic converter, etc for $359.10 wondering if I should go this route or just gut out, modify the stock cat? Ok, I am seriously considering gutting the cat on my 16 CDH. My question is, is there any down sides? Do I loose low end torque because of lack of back pressure? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  11. Indian Motorcycle Tech Q & A
Have used drills and metal rod and have enough holes that a 3/8" rod has hard time finding a solid area. But how do I break it apart so I can pull it out !?!?!?

Looking for someone who can gut the catalytic converter out of the stock exhaust head pipe of my 2017 Chieftain Dark Horse. I posted a prior thread asking about the best header pipe to use and almost everyone felt that it was best just to take the catalytic converter out of the stock pipe...

I know that there is already a bunch of posts about de-catting the head pipe. What I could not find is information about possibly adding baffles to the exit pipes from the cat box. I did read a thread where Enzo added baffles to his mufflers when he de-catted his head pipe, but I am...

Just wanted to share with everyone how I removed the CAT on mine 2017 RM. I thought about purchasing a header without a CAT, but decided to call the service department and schedule appointment until I was told the cost. So, I got creative and decided to drill the CAT out, YOUTUBE said the job...

So keeping the proginal on my bike until I finished at least one of these projects, I will share some thoughts. Drilling out the cat...............how in thee Hell do you all do it so...

Hey folks, I have read lots of stuff on removing the cat and loss of back pressure and the pleasant bonus of heat reduction. Anyone ever just punch a bunch of holes through the cat? Think swiss cheese. It is bound to eliminate some heat and maintain some back pressure. I get the approach...

I decided to gut the CAT, but decide I wanted to try a little different plan. Cut Exhaust in half. Totally remove cat and put a diverter plate in between and make true duels. I haven't put it on yet. Waiting for 500 mile service to be completed Friday the 16th April. I will let forum know how it...
  19. Indian Motorcycle Tech Q & A
I've been reading multiple threads about removing the catalytic convert material from the head pipe. Just when I'm convinced it'll be advantageous, I read a negative comment and change my mind. UPDATE: I finally got around to removing my CAT. I also added Cobra Quiet Core Baffles into the tail...

I have stage 1, sounds great! If the content of the converter were "accidentally" of coarse, removed would the MPG improve?
