Indian Velo 500
This bike has had a lot of previous owners, but has never been ridden. It has been stored in a damp leaky building (hence the rust and poor condition). The speedo and RPM gauges glasses were broken
An Indian Velo 500 has beem my dream bike for some time, I beleive there were only 120ish made, built for Clymer in Italy with a Velocette English engine for the USA market. I never thought I would ever get my 'lunch hooks' on one as they are rare. I did not want one to restore one but I had to take what was out there. As with all restorations I have found that it requires a lot more attention (and pennies) than was 'shown' in the photo's before purchase.... but don't they all. These bikes were made with several colours and specifcations and a choice of engines: a 500cc Velocette Thruxton engine (tuned with GP carb a race engine) or the standard 500cc Velocette Venum engine both should make it perform well (the Thruxton being the rarest and sort after) but the Venum one shoud be easier to start, mine is the Venum. I have made contact with some fantastic people who have one or owned one they have been so helpful. If you ever decide to get one they should last forever as the build quality was good and for those of us getting on a bit an Electric start kit is available. I have added a few pictures of how it was when it came to me and as it was 2 days later after I stripped it. My bike will be restored to a good spec (not concourse) as Intend to ride and use it ...... after all that is what they were made for. Ride safe and enjoy!
