      Yes both true. The bt menu on the bike shows the cigarette module connected, then I plug in the carlinkit... And nothing happens.

      Edit: I'll outline what I've done and maybe someone can find a flaw.

      Deleted all bt connections from the bike.
      Connected the bt module linked above. Bike says it's connected and shows the headset icon.
      Plug in the carlinkit. After a minute the light on the carlinkit goes red and just stays that way. Nothing happens on the bike.
      The "to enable apple carplay..." message remains.

      My phone is in airplane mode and not connected to either the bike nor the carlinkit.
      I've tried half a dozen different bt cables, and 4 different bt headsets.
      It's not clear to me whether the bike thinks I dont have a bt headset connected or I don't have the "iphone" (carlinkit) connected.
      My bike is a base 2020 chieftain with recently updated ride command software (MHS7A9.M22143A November 2021).
      The carlinkit device works in my car, so I know it's not defective.

      I don't think the RC would be showing the message "need to connect a headset" if CarLinkit wasn't connected/found. It doesn't display that without it on my bike. I didn't see you mention that you paired the FM transmitter with the bike/RC in your list of steps.

      This is what I did:

      Delete all bt connections on bike
      Delete bt connection on phone to bike's RC
      Plug FM transmitter in trunk
      Turn on bike, go to RC, go to bt section and pair the FM transmitter
      Connect the CarLinkit to the cable in the dash
      Start pairing process for CarLinkit to phone

      The above worked for me with my Cardo headset before I got the FM transmitter too.

      I also don't know whether your phone's airplane mode would allow the bt functionality required for CarPlay/CarLinkit. Why have it set to that? Just leave your phone in normal mode.
