Some of you may remember the first Indian sponsored Veteran's Charity Ride from last year. Well this year is going to be bigger and better! We're talking more veterans this year, riding together on the beautiful back roads of America on Indian Motorcycles, in Champion sidecars and on specially modified Indian Trikes. Vets will share their experiences of serving in the military with one another, creating a bond, veteran to veteran, to help each other heal from the trauma and experiences of war.

This unique life changing program takes hand selected wounded and amputee veterans on a nine day Motorcycle Therapy adventure from Los Angeles to the Sturgis Bike Rally in South Dakota in order to help the healing process that is needed after serving in combat. Motorcycle Therapy is getting our veterans outdoors, riding the open road with the wind in their face, getting much needed space that clears their head, and talking about their experiences while serving in the military so they can experience life and living again.

Where folks can meet up with the ride, everyone is welcome:

    July 30th, Los Angeles
July 30th, Las Vegas and Jean NV, escorted ride into Las Vegas
    Aug 4th, Craig CO
    Aug 5th, Denver CO
    Aug 6th, Hot Springs SD
Aug 7th, Sturgis SD, Grand Entrance

Details on exact time and location will be posted on the Veteran's Charity Ride Facebook page: Veterans Charity Ride to Sturgis

    VCR Website: Veterans Charity Ride
    Indian Motorcycle: Indian Motorcycle

We look forward to seeing you on the ride and supporting these veteran's with your presence!

Might I suggest ya'll setup an East Coast ride as well? I'm sure there would be widespread interest from Vets over here...maybe start off from Fort Bragg, NC and heading to Sturgis for 2017? I'd be happy to help with the arrangements.

I really really wish Indian Motorcycle hadn't picked a celebrity for the first ride that's so 2A un-friendly, considering he's made a ton of money by that which he eschews.

You talking about Jay Leno? He's the chairman of the charity.

This isn't the first ride -- I had the honor of riding with em this summer when they came into Denver. See thread

    Veterans ride to Sturgis

Didn't see mark wahlberg ( or any other celebrities ) -- just a bunch of combat vets, many missing limbs and riding modified Indians. These were salt of the earth guys -- no bravado, just fellow riders who had been thru more shit than most of us will ever know. The Indian dealerships do an outstanding job of supporting these guys, but it's up to ea dealership to host. We had an honor guard of active-duty USMC when we arrived, followed by a dealer-provided meal. A lot of local vets showed up to support. It was powerful stuff.

This is no PR stunt. It's vets riding. They form the same bonds riding that they did in combat. I salute these guys and was proud as hell of em. I was talking to one guy and realized he was standing on prosthetics -- lost both legs. I was honored to be there. Regular dudes -- no sparkle.

Where did you get the idea I thought this was the 1st ride?

What is it you're trying to say by telling all about the ride and who was there? That has nothing to do with my questioning the choice of the celebrity of the 1st ride.

From your quote: ". I really really wish Indian Motorcycle hadn't picked a celebrity **** for the first ride **** ( my underscore) that's so 2A un-friendly... " etc

No heat here, Scot -- just reporting what I experienced when I rode with 'em. Outstanding people and I'm glad Indian stepped up for 'em.

Exactly. I said nothing and have no doubts about the vets or the cause. Only about the questionable celebrity choice.

Got it. I was curious about Mark Wahlberg ( didn't want to overlook a Jane Fonda type) so I googled his political leanings and this was the leading article. Seems decent enough -- tough upbringing, helps kids, etc. most important thing to me is that he supports vets. But I realize there are a ton of things I don't know, so there may be a corner I'm not aware of. Just info.

Paraphrasing myself and adding more "I really really wish Indian Motorcycle hadn't picked a celebrity for the first ride that's so 2A un-friendly, considering he's made a ton of money by that which he eschews" What's further ironic in light of his stance is a.) is just how does he think Veterans became veterans, and b.) the Veterans Ride to Sturgis - Firearm Friday Shooting Competition.

I'll leave this here regarding his stance with a link to more (click to #4) and then drop the subject because that's not what this thread is about.

I believe Charlton Heston is America’s best villain because he loves guns so much. Maybe he should get the award for being president of the National Rifle Association.
