While its only a single example that I have to go by, these guys have been doing great and they haven't been around long. But they have sold a lot of bikes this year including one to me. Indian Motorcycle of Southeastern Virginia | Facebook I have been watching their posts and they average about 4 per month for the last 12 months and that's just what they posted on facebook. There are several that I know of (mine included) that never got posted. We had a ride for veterans last summer that had about 40 Indians. These guys have only been in business a little over a year. They are Indian only and are directly around the corner from a dealer that sells multiple brands from Japan (Yamaha,Honda,Kawasaki, Suzuki). There is also two other dealers in town a Harley, and a shop that sells Ducati, Triumph, MV Augusta etc. So if they are managing that with that kind of competition, it says a lot. They are friendly and outgoing which really helps. Salesmanship is important.

That's what people said on the Vog to when it was suggested that Polaris would cut Victory. .....

I think you can say that about any multi branded business.

Its a sad day for sure, I recently traded my Hammer for a DHChief and have a lot of love for both brands. While I think Indian is in a better position at the moment its only a few bad decisions and a few years poor sales away from going the same way. I've never really wanted a Harley but I envy their business security and longevity at the moment

The Sturgis Indian dealer is a stand alone and seem to be doing quite well. They have already expanded the size of their dealership once and in 2 weeks they are having a job fair because they are set to expand again.

No, Indians are nice bikes, but as a guy who bough a new Vic in 2014 then another one this past May, I won't be buying another Polaris product ever again, without some sort of trade in program, because they just killed the value of my bike. I don't want to support an company that doesn't support me. I do not mean that as an insult or an attack, just they way it is.

Hm ... a motorcycle enthusiast might actually value a bike which is not built anymore HIGHER. That said ... you will still get parts for the next 10 years from a still existing "owner" ... and I don't believe the Freedom 106 will just be ditched.
Q: Did the popularity of the Kingpin e.g. rise or sink after its end of life? I am sure they stopped the Boardwalk with one eye on the emerging new Indians!

In Europe you should have seen the insanity of watch collectors every time a specific Swatch model turns out to have a short product life cycle and being produced in limited numbers [wacky]

If I had cash lying around I would have gone now for one of the last (still relatively) few Octanes in a heartbeat ... or for a nice color Magnum X1!
Exclusivity (mid term) AND longevity at the same time ... kewl! :D

The HD Springer and X-bones fans who have one of those models are probably HAPPY that they are no more being produced ...

It would be a good time to buy a victory closeout. Its still a reliable bike, the warranty still good and the parts will be available for years to come.
