Engineers are always wanting to build a monument to themselves. It's the job of a good purchasing agent to knock em down a peg or two and let let em know sole sourced long lead time items are a bad idea.

Actually motorcycle unit sales numbers for most manufacturers are easy to find. I found Honda's in a couple of clicks. Same with HD. As Bwana6 opined, shipped and sold are pretty close numbers, especially with the model-year-end reconciliation. So, it's just that Polaris apparently chooses to not release those numbers.

Sorry, I'm a couple pages behind reading the thread. Carry on.

Indian, Victory and Polaris are all American companies. Always have been.

Just because they use metric fasteners, doesn't mean $h!t.

Harley has been using metric fasteners and measurement for decades. They just mix it up.

And speaking of Chevy, Ford, and Chrysler........

Would not hesitate to buy a Brand New Victory at the prices they are selling for now if was 10 years younger, even with the 3 Bikes I own right now if younger would jump all over one .. At my age though Think the 3 I own will outlive me except maybe the Scout .. But hoping they all do ..

Both Victory's I own were performance enhanced by Lloyd Greer have met him in person and He Loves what he does , as well as Rylan Voss of the Victory Shop, Kyle Crandall of KMC and Last but far from least Kevin Cross of Southern Motorworx who is 20 miles away from me and has been a good friend to me since bought my 2012 Cross Country, which at the time he was the Service Manager of the Dealership bought my Victory from .. All 4 of these guys will be around for some time to come ...

I have netted out my last 19 Victory's in stock. I have most models in stock. Check my website. I have them listed with tax and license out the door in California. If you want one shipped out of state I can give you the netted out cost. Prefer cash deals out of state.
Go to my website at hollisterpowersports.com to see my inventory.

I wonder if Lloyd is going to get to keep the Bandit now? He was hoping Victory would give it to him after all the work he did on it. [IMG][IMG]

With the discontinuation of the Victory motorcycle there will be those that should own one and others who shouldn't. If you love your Vic and care only about it and what the company that built it does is irrelevant then enjoy your bike. The owner that now hates their Vic because of the cancellation of the brand and what others say means more to them than what they know themselves are too thin skinned to ride a Vic. I have 2 bikes in the garage that no longer have parent companies, a Cagiva Gran Canyon...almost 20 years old, and an Ariel Cyclone...almost 60 years old and out of business since the 60s. I will die still owning those bikes, hopefully later rather than sooner. Keep it or sell it, it doesn't matter to anyone but yourself. It's a motorcycle, if selling it for possibly a loss ruins you financially, well...

Well said... sort of how I feel when folks dis' the Indian brand sometimes on various forums and social media.. it's not as 'perfect' as they assumed it'd be. With the Vic's, been humorous how many people sound like they are selling their bikes' 'tomorrow' out of desperation. After 18 years in the business for Victory, there is a HUGE aftermarket for parts and performance. They should look at it from the perspective.. they've got some special now.. no one else ( so to speak ) will have one again like it ...

Very well put. The newer Victory line has some great bikes. The Cross Country is one of the most comfortable bikes ever made for large framed people like myself. I Blame the Manufacturer for not marketing this Brand more. Granted the volume of the bike sales limits your available marketing monies. But if you don't come out swinging and limp along with 2 bit advertising you will never grow any brand in any market in this day and age.
