One has to wonder how many they could have sold. I'm sure the low production numbers helped but could they have sold 500? Very interesting. I think if I was ln the marea for a new Chieftain I'd have to see what the new models look like before I'd sign for one.

No........its 100 models that the dealers themselves grabbed before they hit the floor. Now they drag them out in 5 years and get 50K for them. Any LOW production numbers like that, especially a whiskey/liquor edition will sell. Look what happened to most of the other first editions. In hands of the dealers. Yes they are popular but if Indian were THAT popular, you would not still find 2015's or 2016's on the floor in a few places and one guy here bought a 2014 two weeks ago ! Any limited edition series will be popular. Indian should be upping these numbers on the JD series to around 250 at least. Just think of the dealers that never saw one or got one. And some of the 'pet dealers' like Ride Now stores that got more than their fair share.

Kind of strange when reading about last years selling off in 8 hours again.. One of our members here just picked up a brand new - never titled - 2016 JD = they didnt sell out by at least one last year. It will be interesting to see if any of these 2017 JD's show up on dealer's show room floors being sold as new bikes again. After living thru all this Polaris Victory nonsense and hearing about some of the ways both dealers and Polaris customers were lied to - it might be easy to see how folks have a hard time believing everything Polaris says now adays..

As Bwana said. A lot of dealers snag these up to put them on their floor to drive in traffic. Many had to be pre-arranged sales before these were even announced to sell out in 10 minutes. Marketing 101. No doubt people will buy them because they are limited edition.

Just some random searching turned up the following 2016s...

An Indian dealer in California has 2 JD versions.

Looks like this one sold recently

    Tennessee has this one:

I saw more that were used <500 miles for sale.

Exactly the point 1rs!!!! If the media report from Polaris were true and they actually did sell out all those 2016's in 8 hours last year there would never have been new ones available at dealerships. Propaganda is an amazing tool when used properly in marketing.

Quite a price disparity on those listed for sale. Polaris does not like over sticker charging. Makes me think those going for 39K are already titled but no miles (?)

Not sure Bwana,,, most of the ones I been reading about are listed as "new" bikes in the selling dealerships new bikes sales area - dont think they can do that if they have already been titled as this makes them a used scoot..

You'd think at that price they would have delivered it at Phase II. $35,000 and you still need to go out and buy some slip-ons.

My dealer says they were getting 5, and sold 4. But for all I know, maybe they had 4 customers committed, and were "hoping" to get 5... Seams unlikely the Quebec dealer, although the largest in eastern Canada, would get 5 when there are only 100.

I like the paint and wheels, it'd be nice to see how it'd look on a RM
